Student loan forgiveness, good or bad?

Joe Biden ran on the campaign promise of cancelling millions of dollars of student loan debts. That is fine and dandy, how come student loans were the only things you couldn’t include in your bankruptcy?

There were many people who came out of college and took really nice high paying jobs and was able to afford their student loan payments. Then there are student borrowers like myself, who for the life of me couldn’t buy a job when I came out of college in 1990. I went on many job interviews for accounting and every time I would hear, “It’s nice you have your education, where is your experience?.” My response was always “How can I get experience if you won’t hire me?” This went on until 2001, that is when I actually landed my first professional accounting job with verifiable experience. During 1990, both the federal government and the State of Colorado implemented a hiring freeze.

I went to work for the State of Colorado as a sales and use tax auditor. I was able to make my payments the three years I worked with the state. My supervisor wanted to fire me so I resigned. I went to work with the State of North Carolina in a similar position and was terminated after two months. After that I stopped making the payments because I was no longer employed from 2005 until 2007. When I went back to work, I was barely making ends meet at $10/ and hour at Frontier. I…
