Socialized medicine, why I hate it

This beautiful boy is at the center of a major court case in England. In the United Kingdom, they provide socialized medicine. A judge in England has said that little Archie can be taken off of life support. Archie was found unconscious at home in Southend, Essex, on 7 April.

Doctors at the Royal London Hospital said he was “brain stem dead” and the hospital’s lawyers have argued it was in Archie’s best interests to stop treatment. Hollie Dance, Archie’s mother, said the family planned to appeal against the latest High Court decision. “Archie would want us to keep on fighting… and we will keep on fighting,” she said. According to a Friday statement from the Christian Legal Centre, which is representing the family, the parents are seeking permission to appeal.

“This ruling is a crushing blow to Archie and his family. With all due respect to Mr. Justice Hayden, it is not in Archie’s best interests to die,” Battersbee’s mother said in a statement following the ruling. Dance contends that “planned death” is another name for euthanasia. But will it do any good? The last time a case this happened in England the doctors called away both parents when they pulled their two-year old son off of life support.

What is socialized medicine? When public funds are used to provide medical and hospital care for all, that is called socialized medicine…
