Nazem Kadri is bringing a new audience to the Colorado Avalanche
Nazem Kadri is from Lebanon. He also plays for the Colorado Avalanche. He is also bringing a new set of fans to the Colorado Avalanche. The new fan base that he is bringing to the Avalanche, is Muslim youth. This is a fan base that Colorado really hasn’t enjoyed, but is now because of Nazem. Not only is he the Avalanche Stanley Cup MVP, Sportswriter Keeler said for the Denver Post, he also said you get what you give.
During the series with St. Louis when he had incidental contact with the Blues goalie in game three, he received death threats from the Blues fans that caused the St. Louis Police department to investigate. Extra security was put on by the NHL and the police department.
Death threats against any player no matter who they play for is wrong and has no place in professional sports. If you as a fan take the game that seriously, perhaps you shouldn’t watch or attend.
I think it is wonderful that one player can reach a community that wasn’t very receptive to the home team. It was great to see the Muslim community rally around this player when he received death threats and hate speech.
I have watched this young man play and he is a damn good player. He has had a bad reputation as being a dirty player, that is why Toronto traded him to the Colorado Avalanche. But Kadri is working on cleaning up his reputation and anyone who does that is deserving of a second chance in my opinion.
Watch out Stanley Cup Finals here come the Avalanche.
