Graduation after the interview
Episode 5
I still had two semesters of college left, but I was told I was one of the selectees for an interview with Continental Airlines in Denver, CO the next week, for a Reservations sales agent. My major in college was Business Administration with a minor in Travel and Tourism.
There were about twenty of us and this was going to be a huge hiring event for Continental, considering they had just bought three other airlines out of bankruptcy and was going to merge them into one carrier. We were told our flight time and we were all given positive space travel from Rapid City to Denver. When we arrived they escorted us to the reservations center where the event was to take place. They commenced the interviews and I was very nervous. One of my classmates said you look rather nice today, and I thanked her.
Finally I was called back for my interview time. It was nerve racking and that was before I sat down. The recruiter started to ask me open ended questions about myself. career aspirations and where I saw myself in ten years. Finally the most difficult thing I have ever had to do was to sell a woman her own purse. She said to me you have two minutes to sell me my purse and I started with the features of the purse, that it was an off color and could be used with any color. It had multiple pockets and they could be used to put different…
